Was this a gift?: No

This camera is not, I repeat not for the multi decade Nikon user… This is a great starter DSLR, before this I had the Canon Digital Rebel XT, that was great camera but this is better. I still consider myself an ametur user of DSLR’s which is what Nikon was specifically targeting when they designed this camera. It builds on many of their successes, the auto modes work well, the lens takes great shots especially if you play with manual focus. I’m very happy I bought this camera.

I also picked up an Eyefi X2 card with the camera, they work great together, while the eyefi is only 4GB and the camera supports a lot more, my iPhone is 32GB and I can wirelessly transfer from the card to my iPhone for storage, edits, and uploads.

I’ve had the camera for two weeks and I was waiting to buy more lenses until I was sure I was satisfied. My next purchase will be a 200mm lens.

ps if you want to track the photos I take with the camera feel free to look at my flickr page. www.flickr.com/photos/jasonahowie
