After doing a fair amount of research into standing desks and comparing ones offered by various manufacturers I decided the most interesting/cost-effective ideas came from IKEA hacks.
While looking for ideas on Pinterest one day I discovered Simplified Building Concepts. They offer a kit of pipes and fittings specifically for building your own adjustable height desk. With the kit from Simplified Building Concepts, a table top and small shelf from IKEA, and about $10 dollars in screws and pipe clips from Home Depot, I set out to build my standing desk IKEA hack for only $340*.
List of parts
Ikea:
LINNMON – Table top, birch effect – 47″ x 23″ $19.99
EKBY JÄRPEN – Shelf, birch veneer – 47″ x 11″$14.99
Simplified Building Concepts:
Table Frame Kit – Adjustable Height (28-44″) – $230.70 (+$60 for shipping)
Home Depot:
3 galvanized 1 1/2″ Pipe clips – $0.97 ea
Box of #10 1″ wood screws – $5.97
Bag of #12 1/2″ metal screws – $3.97
Here are some pictures of my standing desk and so far well worth the investment.
*The dual display mount I already had but got from Monoprice for $40.
Hey! Looks great. Is that ikea tabletop real wood?
